The summer residency Not-Oreste 4 in Montescaglioso is the second part of our Italian project. The first part was our contribution in the exhibition Tribù dell’Arte in Rome. Not- Oreste-4 was held in the small Italian village of Montescaglioso, which is located in the south of the country, in Basilicata region, and has a population of 10,000. The residency brought together groups of artists and curators from throughout Europe to exchange ideas and to collaborate on projects that was realised either during or after the residency. Some members of FinnFemFel took part in the residency as coordinators and technical expertise.

FinnFemFel´s personal project during the residency is a photography project. For this project we invited Petra Lindholm as a guest artist in to the group. The remote location up on a hill and the surrounding landscape has given Montescaglioso a special atmosphere that made a large impression on the whole group. With the same fascination as the adventures photographers in the early 20´th century brought home exotic pictures, each one of us tried to capture what we saw. In old days when the photographers tried to picture the untouched landscape or people, we want to show the opposite. We want to show how the needs and desires of people affect their environment and behaviour. Each one of the FinnFemFel´s tried to capture their own view of this phenomenon, in one single large format photography.
